Media Lists

Your media list should be divided into categories so that you can properly target an area, type of reporter, or type of outlet. Following is a description of recommended categories:

Type of Outlet/Formats. There a several different kinds of news outlets, but these are some of the most common:

  • News (Wire) Service
  • Newspaper Syndicate (companies that represent several regional/local papers)
  • Daily Newspapers
  • Weekly Newspapers
  • Magazines/Monthlies
  • Newsletters
  • Local Television Station
  • Television Shows
  • On-line
  • Local Radio Station
  • Radio Shows
You may also want to divide along the lines of what types of news they cover or the format they use, regional or local.
