Journalist Meetings

One-on-one meetings with editors, editorial boards, or other journalists serve several purposes, including:

  • Providing individual reporters with in-depth information on a complicated topic.
  • Arming reporters with accurate and interesting background materials to inform their future reporting.
  • Persuading writers - particularly editorial boards - to cover an issue from your angle.
If you are working on an issue that is not normally covered by "environment" beat reporters, you can use one-on-one meetings to present the environmental angle to editors, business reporters, or others who may not normally consider the environmental implications of a story. This can be a meeting aimed mainly at influencing future coverage or at encouraging a reporter/editor to write a particular story or editorial.
